COVID-19 Update                                                                                                                                                           May 11,2020
We are thrilled to announce that we will be opening the sanctuary of SPBC on Sunday, May 17th, for our 11:00AM gathered worship service. After 2 solid months we are excited to see our brothers and sisters in the Lord, and to worship God together as the assembled Body of Christ. May we never again take our opportunities to gather as a church for granted!
We want to take the time to assure those who are weary of returning that there is absolutely NO PRESSURE to come back right away. We realize that for many, this virus poses a much higher risk to them due to various circumstances. Please, if you are not completely ready to return, do not hesitate to wait until you feel the time is right. We will continue to post Pastor Darren's weekly messages online on both our church Facebook page (, and here on the church website (see sermon page). We are here to serve you in any way possible!
At this time, we will NOT be utilizing any other rooms in the building other than the sanctuary and the bathrooms in the main building. For now, we will not be offering the nursery, Sunday School, or Wednesday Evening Prayer and Bible Study. The fellowship building will remain closed. We will only meet for Sunday morning worship at this time. Of course, children are ALWAYS welcome to attend, but they will have to remain with their parents in the sanctuary with the rest of us. Hopefully, as the threat of the virus continues to lower, we will be able to bring back all of our other ministries and gatherings that we all love and enjoy.
With that said, I want to let you know some of the safety precautions and expectations that will make this return to the building for gathered worship possible.
  • If you are sick, or have recently been exposed to those who are, PLEASE protect the rest of the church by STAYING HOME until it is safe to return.
  • As you enter the building, you will see a table set up that offers face masks and hand sanitizer stations. While wearing a mask is NOT mandatory, we do HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to wear one if possible, at least as you enter and exit the building. If you have your own mask, you are welcome to use it.
  • We ask that SOCIAL DISTANCING be utilized as much as possible. We ask households who live together to sit together as closely as they can so as to leave plenty of space to allow distancing from others. PLEASE refrain at this time from embracing others or shaking hands. We know that we are a loving church, but we must use good discernment and practice showing respect to others and their personal space.
  • There will be a designated station as you enter the building where you may drop your tithes and offerings before or after the service. There will be no offering plates passed around at this time.
  • We will be observing the Lord’s Supper this Sunday. We have purchased pre-packaged cups that have the bread and the cup sealed in a single unit. These will be placed beforehand in the pews along with the bulletin. We will have deacons ready to bring you what you need in case more are needed where you are sitting. They are here to serve you!
  • Staying confined to the sanctuary and bathrooms will help the custodian to know where to focus sanitization between gatherings. So PLEASE, limit your presence on our campus to these places only.
We realize that these precautions are somewhat limiting, but if we all do our part, we will be able to get back to our normal as quickly as possible. Know that we are praying for you, and are available to you 24/7! Pastor Darren's personal cell number is (843) 592-1046. Do not hesitate to call if you have any questions. You can also call the church Administrative Assistant Alice at (843) 522-8616 from Monday to Thursday between 9AM - 12PM.
